The La Scala boys have done several events for us & I would highly recommend them. From company picnics to Christmas parties to private dinners & to roasting a whole pig…these guys can do just about anything! And it’s not just Italian. If you have business guests or friends in town, their cook in your home gourmet meals are fantastic, your guests will be impressed. They even do a great & reasonable box lunch for a working lunch meeting. Chad Taylor, OTR Wheel & Tire
This is not your typical “American” Italian restaurant. The dishes are very much like the ones you would enjoy throughout Italy, especially Venice or the Amalfi coastal areas. The owner’s family is from Italy, and imports wines from Italy. With a number of interesting & inexpensive wine selections. The food is “real” Italian. Nice atmosphere. Service is good. Rome, Ga. is lucky to have this gem!
This is one of Rome’s hidden treasures. The entire dining experience was wonderful from the moment we walked in and the hostess remembering it being mine and my husband’s anniversary until we left and the server telling us to have a safe evening due to the pouring down rain. The meal itself I could go on forever describing and not come close to how wonderful it was!
Lovely atmosphere with great food! An innovative place in Rome (a city where restaurant creativity is lacking. This restaurant is comparable to “big city” dining.
Each dish was served as the main attraction. No hurry. Each dish was served after the previous course was cleared away. Warm, welcoming setting. Not a large place, cozy. Excellent wait staff. They start with an “amuse-bouche”, one bite of a special dish, in our case a tasty bite of beef tenderloin. They have specials, we enjoyed a salmon appetizer, different from the traditional capers and cream cheese. Enjoyed a delicious Caesar Salad, good bread served for the table, too. The lobster ravioli was one of the specials, perfect, fresh made pasta and a subtle sauce. No room for dessert but would’ve enjoyed trying the creme brulee. Highly recommend it. As dinner service ends, live music was starting in the bar, where they serve a nice bar menu, too.
I love this place just for the restaurant alone, but the personal service and the willingness of the staff to go the extra mile make it a wonderful place to throw a small party or dinner meeting. One of my favorites are any of the risottos that are occasionally on their specials. They make some great fish dishes and have great steaks, along with the traditional pastas. They have a great wine list, too!
A dinner party of six persons, and myself the only vegan attending. Not a problem for the outstanding dedication to customer care offered by Randy, our superb waiter, foodie, and professional student of nutrition. Having been notified ahead of time, Randy selected an organic wine to compliment the various vegan options for my entrée; the specially prepared appetizer, which was complimentary to the entire party; and the modification and selection of offerings for my dessert. The restaurant was beautifully dressed, the lighting perfect, and the presentations were flawless. The food and drink was exceptional (I ate way too much, something I try hard not to do, but clearly failed at this evening) and our dinner lasted a full 3 hours before we decided it was time for us to depart. For an American dining experience, a full 3 hours is exceptional, and this truly was. Kudos and deep appreciation to the restaurant owners and staff who made this evening’s visit (our first) absolutely supreme; we hope to return to La Scala again for more of the same. All parties were impressed, and all will be returning. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
For Rome, Ga, I would consider the wine list to be very good 5/5. On prior occasions we have had different dishes each time and have never been disappointed. Wait staff is attentive and overall service has been excellent I would recommend this place if you are visiting Rome, Ga or new to Rome, Ga. It’s still one of our favorites and we will be back.
La Scala was very accommodating. Anthony and Kenny worked closely to make sure that our event was a huge success. We had 60 people for the rehearsal dinner. Great food from the appetizers to the four choices for our guests (its very unusual that a restaurant gives you so many choices with such a large group). They also made vegan selections available too. A superior experience all around. Our complements to all, especially, the wait staff and bartenders. We would definitely hold another event here.
Love this restaurant. A little more pricey than some but worth every penny! It is a lovely place to go for a special evening and has stood the test of time in a city not known to put up with less than outstanding fine dining. Go and enjoy!
My family and I ate at La Scala while visiting Rome, Ga. The food was delicious; the waitresses were friendly and attentive. We had a fabulous experience. We definitely loved the whole ambience of the downtown area. We will definitely be visiting when we go back.
I really like the eatery. Food consistently good. Had an outstanding elk steak. Really wowed me. It is romantic or business sensible. You can t go wrong here.
